Motives.
I have a new male friend.
He’s an Arab.
He always wants to do everything for me( and everyone else he deems deserving) and buy everything.
He said, “From now on, unless you say you’re buying, can we agree that I am paying for everything?”
Now, I don’t care about money or anything. I get uncomfortable with that type of thing, regardless. I shoot him down all the time.
Now, there is a lot more to just that.
But basically…
My parents are racist. They’ve always hated Muslims (well, they don’t hate them but they should al bel destroyed.).
So they are on my case about this guy doing nice things for me.
I told them that they would be THRILLED if a white guy did this. They would be asking when the wedding is, how many kids we’re having.
Actually, a few months ago, I went out with a wealthy white man and my mother DID ask me when I’d be marrying him. And that guy didn’t buy me shit.
So being that he is a Saudi, should I be as freaked out as my parents? “Don’t be STUPID!! I’m really worried for you.”
OR should I just be thankful someone has decided to appreciate me enough to buy me cute dresses from Anthropologie for my birthday because he’ll be out of the country during it?
