I meant to post about my pleasant experience with bagels.
They looked sketchy but I decided to give it a try. I walked into the shop and looked at all the bagels. They appeared to be old and hard. My hopes were NOT high, but I was going to go through with it anyway. It couldn’t make me any more angry than my last bagel experience.
But behold! It was the most delicious bagel I’d ever had. I don’t know a lick about traditional New York bagels. I’ve never been to New York and my only gage is Einstein’s and Kettleman’s claim. Both of which, I never cared for.
These bagels were chewy in the middle, but crispy on the outside. And not from the toasting. I mean, it was everything I had envisioned for a bagel in my mind.
I wasn’t too keen on the flavor of bagel that I chose, but now I know I can get a plain bagel from them and be satisfied.
I also didn’t care for the cream cheese. It was wet and sour and lacked flavor. But perhaps that is New York style cream cheese and I am used to Philadelphia’s version…
Also, I don’t know that they claim to be traditional New York bagels. If they are NOT claiming to be that, then perhaps I wouldn’t care for those as I do the bagels from Bagelworks.
Which only makes me more excited for Kenny and Zuke’s transformation.
I might be alone in this, though.
I love my neighborhood.
